CASE STUDY
GRAND DESIGN
Nick and Sarah extended their listed period Huddersfield home with a glass box extension that created a stunning contrast between old and new. Looking for an ultra-modern kitchen they approached kitchen design specialists Stuart Frazer and designer David Walthall, who translated their brief perfectly and created a truly amazing space.
The couple had driven past Stuart Frazer’s Manchester showroom for years and admired the displays in the window. When they visited the showroom they were blown away with the full range of kitchens on show and immediately warmed to David.
Â
“We were really impressed with how professional David was. His vision was clear and the fact there was no hard sell really appealed to us. Most importantly he understood the look we were after and gave us a variety of design and budget options.”
Â
The brief was to select the very best – from the bespoke textured concrete finish on the doors to the top of the range touch-to-open 400 series Gaggenau ovens complete with sous vide drawer plus the full-surface induction hob. Everything was of the highest specification which the couple wanted as they are both keen cooks.
Â
The level of detail required in the design was incredible and Stuart Frazer delivered, creating a kitchen that not only looks incredible but enhances the overall space perfectly. The kitchen island was designed to look like a cube of stone and the couple selected one of the few materials that allowed a truly book-matched finish to the worktop. The vein pattern was perfectly reflected on all surfaces.
David helped with all areas including the TV section which also included hidden storage on either side. He also advised the couple on the best-framed TV to purchase so it looked like a picture frame.
Â
Lighting was key and a back-lit niche above a tall area made the most of the height of the room. To follow the handle-less theme throughout, all the units were touch-to-open and David devised a double-door breakfast larder, which enabled a toaster to be hidden away.
Â
In addition to the main kitchen, a bespoke drinks section was also created in the living area which was deliberately designed to replicate the look and feel of the main kitchen pulling it into the main living space.
Â
Nick and Sarah are delighted with the kitchen: “Stuart Frazer and David were fantastic from start to finish. They interpreted the brief perfectly and came up with the most incredible space. We also found the fitters to be exceptional. The kitchen really has the ‘wow’ factor and makes our home.”
